Spring EDGE 8U - 14U

Sabre Hockey Association's EDGE Spring Training Program is back! Led by Sabre hockey committee and travel coaching staff, EDGE is a 7-week spring program designed to further advance a player’s development by utilizing a blend of training and practice methods.

After an evaluation period, players will be placed in an appropriate group for their developmental needs. Unlike previous years of EDGE programming, the groups will shrink in size and serve as a player's team for the duration of the spring.

All Players will receive:

(1) weekly hour of PowerSkills training – Powerskating, Stickhandling and Puck Control, Passing, Shooting, Edge work, and so much more! High tempo, high repetition skill work to advance a player’s ability to execute plays.

(1) weekly hour of Team Practice – Battle Drills, Defensive Concepts, Angling, Body Contact, Puck Protection, Ratio Drills, Situational Training, Small Area Games and more! Competition drills are designed to raise a player’s compete level and Game IQ.

Goalies will receive (1) hour of goalie specific training with Sabre Hockey Association’s goalie director, Mike Lively and staff in addition to their team assignments.

*8U goalie training will be in place of their group's PowerSkills training.

(3) home weekend slots for Games - Each group and level's weekend activity will vary.

*8U will receive (5) home weekend slots. 

Gold & Navy teams' primary focus will be tournament play on select weekends, utilizing their home weekend slots for internal 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 competition. 

*Tournament costs are NOT included in program pricing.

White, Grey & Girls teams will compete in home and away games in coordination with other local organizations. Last year's Prairie State Co-Op and NIHL are working out details to ensure 6 regional based level appropriate games for participants this spring.

8U teams will utilize their home weekend slots for different methods of internal 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 competition to provide all facets of development.

Evaluation groups will be built by both age and ability to make sure every player is within their competitive window for the most efficient manner to properly evaluate every player.

Group requests will not be taken into consideration.  

**Groups assignments will be posted in your Crossbar app about three days prior to evaluations. **

Following evaluations, players will be placed on a team based on both age and ability. The intention is to make sure every player is within their proper competitive window to get the most out of their own personal development.
